Nathan Williams began his music career at age 21, recording for his brother's label and playing at his club. Buckwheat Zydeco recommended him to Rounder Records which led to the creation of Nathan & the Zydeco Cha-Chas in 1985. They debuted at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in 1988 and became regulars at the Rock 'n' Bowl, featured in a 1997 album. Williams blends zydeco, jazz, blues and R&B, influenced by Buckwheat Zydeco and Clifton Chenier. The band also features Williams’ family members, collaborating with artists like Michael Doucet.
