Arise Roots is a Los Angeles-based roots-reggae band formed in 2010, known for blending classic reggae with a modern edge. The group includes drummer Hashim "Scorpion" Russell, bassist Rudy Covarrubias, keyboardist Todd Johnson, rhythm guitarist Chris Brennan, lead guitarist Robert Sotelo and lead vocalist Karim Israel. They debuted with the Lay Your Guns Down EP in 2010 and released their first album, Moving Forward, in 2013. Breakout single “Rootsman Town” featured Capleton and their 2020 album Pathways included various reggae collaborators. Arise Roots has performed alongside reggae and hip-hop legends.
